Cookie Policy
The small files this site uses, and how to control them.
Last updated: September 2026
This website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies: small files and pieces of information stored in your browser. Some keep the site working. Others help us understand how the site is used, and those only run if you say yes.
How we ask
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you are happy for us to use optional cookies. Nothing optional runs until you choose. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. We remember your choice for 6 months, then ask again. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a no.
Strictly necessary
• Website platform: WordPress, Elementor and our host, WordPress.com, keep the site working and secure. These cannot be switched off.
• Your cookie choice: our consent tool, provided by Elementor, stores your choice in a cookie called cookiez-user-consent.
• Accessibility toolbar: if you use the accessibility button, it remembers your display settings in your browser (ea11y-global-state). Its provider, Elementor, may set a short-lived security cookie (__cf_bm, 30 minutes).
Analytics, only with your consent
• Jetpack Stats, run by Automattic, counts page views so we can see which pages are read most. It does not set cookies, but it receives your IP address, browser type and the page you visited.
• WordPress.com page speed monitoring measures how quickly our pages load, so we can fix slow ones.
Neither runs unless you choose Accept all, or switch Analytics on in Cookie settings.
Embedded content
• British Association of Removers badge: the membership badge at the bottom of every page is provided by BAR’s supplier and may send anonymous view statistics to Google. It does not set cookies.
What we don’t do
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell data about your visit to anyone.
Consent records
We keep a record of your choice (the date, your choice and your country, but not your name) through our consent provider, Elementor, so we can show we asked.
Managing cookies
Use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page to change your choice. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working properly.
